Scope and Contents Part of a collection containing 4 manuscripts. Separately written copies of law records, legal tracts, etc., bound together in a codex. Leaf [ii] is inscribed "Passages in the Starr Chamber agaynst Sr John Eliott: and other Parliament Gentlemen: 1629." Although this title presently appears to refer to the whole book, it seems that leaves [iii-vi] are interlopers, and that leaf ii previously immediately preceded p.1 and was part of item 1. Scope and Contents Yearly totals of revenue derived from England and Wales, as divided into 7 regions, presumably corresponding with the Exchequer's 7 Auditors of Land Revenue. Includes notes explaning discrepancies. The Elizabethan hand is on the left-hand pages, and a later 18th century transcript (not always accurate) is on the right hand pages. Some notes regard selling lead, wood, repairing Carlisle Castle. Previous Spencer staff thought this volume was a private, non-governmental compilation....
